Case Study:
Pre-Engineered Dry Room Integration in an Existing Office Space
Size: 2,000 ft²
Location: Bedford, MA
Timeline: 5 months
Overview:
A client sought to install a high-performance battery dry room within their existing commercial office space while avoiding costly or invasive building modifications. Airtho was selected to deliver a fully pre-engineered dry room and mechanical package that could be deployed quickly, cleanly, and with long-term adaptability in mind.
Challenge:
The existing building layout left limited room for mechanical equipment and utilities. The client also wanted to maintain the office aesthetic while ensuring the cleanroom met strict environmental requirements.
Solution:
Airtho’s team strategically positioned an indoor desiccant dehumidification unit (DHU) to maximize energy efficiency, airflow performance, and ease of service. We worked closely with the client to integrate power posts directly into the room layout, reducing the number of wall-mounted utilities. This approach enhanced the room’s cleanliness, created a cleaner visual profile, and allowed for future flexibility as processes evolve.
Mechanical start-up and commissioning were completed in just one week, during which the dry room not only met but exceeded all design criteria.
Results:
Minimal building disruption: Dry room installed with virtually no structural modification.
High performance: System exceeded environmental and mechanical design specifications.
Efficient deployment: Full mechanical start-up and commissioning achieved within one week.
Optimized layout: Integrated utilities improved aesthetics and long-term adaptability.
